Traben-Trarbach on the Mosel
Traben-Trarbach is a well-known tourist town in the central Mosel river
area. It has numerous health and spa facilities. The two towns, Traben
(left of the Mosel) and Trarbach (right of the Mosel) are connected by
a bridge which was built in 1899. This bridge has an unusual and
historically interesting Belle Epoque gate. Other art-nouveau style
buildings by the same architect are in various places in the town center.
They can be viewed in a two-hour tour of the town called "Tracing the
Belle Epoque".
The climb up to the Grevenburg, the ruins high above Trarbach (built in
1350-1357 by the Counts of Sponheim) is worth doing. It has a
wonderful view over the loop of the Mosel near Traben-Trarbach.
