"Lucca Codex" exhibited at the state library of Lucca (Tuscany)
In her master work "Liber Divinorum Operum", Hildegard describes the human being
as a microcosm where the complexity and sublime beauty of body and mind reflect the
intrinsic regularities of nature. This so-called "Lucca Codex" includes a series of
full-page illustrations which portray the oneness of nature, cosmos and mankind
through "visions" of intense colors. Miniature pictures in the left and right corners
show Hildegard working on her writings.
