Little tour of the Rhineland-Pfalz open-air museum
There are 4 museum villages, and each are distinct from one another. Buildings
from the areas of Mosel-Eifel, middle Rhine-Westerwald, Hunsrück-Nahe, and
Rhine-Hessen are on display. Crossing, border and boundary stones, a chapel and
stone benches on the sides of the paths give the visitor a feeling of walking
from village to village.
Once a year, on the last Sunday in September, a big museum festival takes place.
Cobblers, blacksmiths, broom-makers, and potters gather and demonstrate aspects
of the daily life of earlier generations.
